The iPhone goes VoIP with Line2 App

There was a time when, depending on your job, you may have to carry two or three cell phones. Line2 for the iPhone, created by Talktumi, takes situations like this and streamlines them into one iPhone. The Line2 App can also turn your iPod Touch into a VoIP cell phone where ever there is WiFi. Line2 could very well turn out to be the VoIP solution that Skype and Google Voice were trying to be. Line2 will charge only $15 a month for this service, so small cash loans won’t be needed to double your phone’s functionality. Keeping the momentum can be the test for Line2. The iPhone app store saw Line2 shoot to No. 1 after the company showed off at the CTIA conference. Today, they’ve removed the app offline to fight a DNS attack.

Data networks doubled with Line2 App

First and foremost, the functionality of Line2 is situated on something how the iPhone was itching for – the ability to make and receive calls using either the 3G data network or WiFi. Line2 “prefers” WiFi connections, as they’re more reliable, but if you move from one hot spot to another, it will effortlessly switch you, even mid-call.

The cell phone network minutes that can be very costly won’t be employed if you’re using the dual-mode functionality. Long-distance international calls can also be much less expensive with the Line2 system. At $15 a month and $1 for the Line2 App, it’s cell phone service that doesn’t necessitate payday lending to pay the bills.

Line2 makes more than just calls

The Line2 App is about more than just turning your calls over to internet connections. Instead, Line2 is a fully-functioning second phone line. A home and business line could be routed through the very same handset with Line2. You can also set up a virtual phone tree – press 1 to reach A, press 2 to get to B, if you’re a business owner trying to keep things in line. Line2 also offers conference calling, visual voicemail, and a choice of how to take incoming calls. It’s like having a second iPhone on your iPhone.

Line2 Denial of Service attacks

The iPhone app store saw Line2 climb to No. 1 on March 25. The core business of the iPhone is making and receiving calls, so various were surprised when Line2 was approved. The Apple app store recently rejected Google Voice for doing many of the very same things Line2 does.

. At 9 p.m. Eastern Time on Friday, Talktumi was forced to take Line2 offline because of a coordinated DNS Denial of Service attack. The company is offering up-to-the-minute updates on the Talktumi Twitter account, and hope to have Line2 up and running again soon.
