Vikings finally get Brett Favre to come to practice

The modern version of the fable “The Boy who Cried Wolf” has type of become “Brett Favre Retiring.” Brett Favre has gone north to Minnesota to participate in training camp with the Minnesota Vikings. A visit with other Vikings has turned that worm. The NFL legend, who holds multiple records in football, hasn’t said if he’s there totally for good, but Favre showing up for practice indicates he probably will play this season.

Minnesota has Brett Favre back

Following the third year of intense debate over the subject, Brett Favre has held out until the last minute and decided not to retire, returning to practice with the Minnesota Vikings. On Tuesday, Aug. 17, Favre stepped off a plane and joined his teammates on the practice field, having missed yet another training camp, according to ESPN. Last season, Brett Favre didn’t seem to need any stinking training camp. He and the Vikings went on a Viking like campaign, which included a merciless slaughter of a pitiful Dallas Cowboys team in the first round of playoffs. In a loss in overtime to the New Orleans Saints within the NFC Championship game, Favre picked up the ankle injury that has plagued him since then.

Convinced by teammates to come back

The lynchpin in Favre’s decision may are some of his teammates. Three other Vikings headed to Favre’s home in Hattiesburg, Miss., to convince him to come to practice. Steve Hutchinson, Ryan Longwell and Jared Allen, who has possibly the most famous mullet in sports, went to visit Favre and maybe talk him into it. They must have made quite the argument, because he flew back to Minnesota with them.

First NFL grandfather to make financial institution

If Favre plays this season, as outlined by USA Today, he stands to earn $20 million. However, he is going to have to earn each penny. One of their opening games is going to be against the Packers, and they probably still want revenge. QB Aaron Rodgers was statistically one of the better quarterbacks within the NFL last year, and to knock off the Vikings, especially with Favre at the helm, will be quite the feather within the Packers’ cap.
